They are the players that fail to meet expectations. As the season rolls on, you grudgingly sit them on your bench, or play them while wishing you would have let someone else grab them instead. They can destroy a fantasy team before it has a chance to compete. They can take a great drafted team and force it to limp into the season. They can be the cause of a first place team falling out of the race. They are the fantasy Killers!

The following players are not players I am saying to stay away from, rather keep an eye on them and make the decision for yourself on when to draft them. I am only shedding some light on players to be aware of.

QUARTERBACKS

Donovan McNabb (PHI-QB) – Coming back from knee surgery is always a scary issue. Especially for a scrambling QB. His knee seems to be doing well so far and his arm is strong, but don’t expect the same numbers he was putting out when healthy in 2006.

RUNNING BACKS

Ladell Betts (WAS-RB) – He is ranking as high as 57th in some rankings. If Portis cant play this becomes a fair place for him, but at this time Portis is looking to play and picking Betts so early would be disastrous. Presently in KenjasFantasySports rankings he is averaging out at 85th over all. This is too soon in my personal opinion.

Marion Barber (DAL-RB) – He is ranking out at 55th presently due to his high TD output in 2006.  If Julius Jones improves and stays healthy, or if Romo improves and throws for more TD's Barbers numbers will drop. If he is there in the 8th round, then by all means snatch him up, but likely there will be better available in the fifth round.

Larry Johnson (KC-RB) – Johnson has signed and will play the regular season. However, keep in mind that with Trent Green gone and not even a decent QB to take his place, there will not be enough of a passing game to keep defenses honest. They will line up solely to stop Johnson and after the load he carried in 2006, it may be too much.

Brian Westbrook (PHI-RB) – With McNabb hobbled, more pressure will be on Westbrook to take more punishment. With his injury history, I’m not so sure he will be up to the task. Presently ranked at 8th overall, if he stays healthy, he is worth it. That’s a big “IF” though.

Brandon Jacobs (NYG-RB) – At 6’4”, 264 lbs, he is befitting the name of his team. He is truly a giant of a running back. He will move the line on short yardage and he will score TD’s. However, ranking out at 31 overall, it just might be too early for him now that Droughns has joined the team. I expect Jacobs to get most of the carries but if he falters, Droughns could steal some more.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Kevin Curtis (PHI-WR) – In second half of 2006, Curtis only had one TD and only once had more than 3 receptions or 41 yards. He looks to be a starter but might have competition for the spot in Baskett. Even if he starts, don’t expect him to be lights out.
