Tarvaris Jackson, QB - Jackson only played in 4 games in 2006 and threw 2 TD's and 4 IT's. Young, unproven and not on the best of offenses. Not a combination one wants in a fantasy QB.
Chester Taylor, RB - 2006 was the first season Taylor shouldered the load of carries on a team and he played admirably. 1,216 yards and a 4 yard average was respectable. Only six touchdowns though. Keep in mind that in the last three games of 2006, with Jackson as QB, Taylor didn't even break fifty yards in one game. With the addition of Adrian Peterson, Taylor's status is looking pretty shaky.
Bobby Wade, WR - In all honesty, it doesn't matter which of the Viking receivers I place here, they will not have big enough seasons to think of drafting them in your fantasy leagues.
Troy Williamson, WR - Williamsons season looks about as hopeful as any of the other Viking receivers.
Jim Kleinsasser, TE - Has not had a TD in the last three seasons. Not worth a draft pick.
ROOKIES
Adrian Peterson, RB - If Peterson can stay healthy, he should take over the starting RB job by mid-season if not the first week. Keep in mind though, Peterson does not come into the best of situations for success. He has an inexperienced QB, average WR's and a bad all around offense. The drafting of Peterson here is not the best draft for Minnesota. The one player on offense who did well last year was Taylor. With Brady Quinn and Tedd Ginn Jr, both available, they should have helped a position that needed it more.
Sidney Rice, WR - Rice has a chance of becoming an instant starter on an inept Viking offense. He is a good WR but lacks the pure deep speed. Whether he breaks into the #3 or #2 receiver spot, we will have to wait and see. |
