Eli Manning, QB - Its beginning to look like Eli will never come close to his brother's standards. He is a servicable to a decent QB and will need to take a big step up this year to become a great fantasy quarterback. Still one could do worse than to have a QB throw for 3500 yards and 24 TD's, which is what will be expexted from Eli this season.
Brandon Jacobs, RB - Jacobs has never carried the bulk of the carries before, but there seems no doubt that his 6'4" 264-lbs frame can handle the abuse. Jacobs doesnt make a lot of people miss and he wont break a lot of real long runs, but he will consistently move the ball forward and he will score TD's. 1200+ yards and 12 TD's is not far fetched.
Ruebin Droughns, RB - Many fear that Droughns might take carries away from Jacobs in 2007. It is this simple. Droughns was brought in to spell Jacobs when he tires. Jacobs is a big guy and will need a rest after a longer run or too many running plays in a row. The only way Droughns will steal enough carries to worry about, is if Jacobs doesn't live up to expectations.
Plaxico Burress, WR - Burress has settled in nicely since coming over from Pittsburgh. His yardage took a little dip in 2006 but his scores went up. Expect 2007 to be a combination of the first two seasons in New York. 1100 yards and 9 TD's.
Amani Toomer, WR - Toomer is 33 years old now and he is not getting younger. In 2006, he only played in 8 games. If he can stay healthy, expect about 700 yards and 6 TD's. Though he may lose some chances to the rookie Steve Smith if the younger WR can show he is up to the job in the NFL.
Jeremy Shockey, TE - IT is always good to have a TE who will gain 600+ yards and 7 TD's. Not in the class of Gates but one of the players to grab well ahead of the core group of fantasy TE's.
ROOKIES
Steve Smith, WR - Toomer is getting older and Smith has plenty of talent. How much time he sees on the field will depend on how well he picks up the NFL pace and his willingness to take the punishment of crossing the middle in the NFL. |
